Instruments of Change exhibition located in the Stopford Building at The University of Manchester.

The Instruments of Change online exhibition shares some of the objects that represent innovation, change and discovery across 200 years of healthcare, research and medical education in Manchester. Historical medical instruments and equipment at The Museum of Medicine and Health, part of the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, are at the centre of this exhibition, and additions from The University of Manchester Library special collections highlight mutually relevant collections for engagement and study.

Central to the exhibition are stories of the University's and city’s role in shaping patient care and policy development in an emerging National Health Service in the mid-20th century.

Many of the objects featured in this online exhibition feature in  Manchester Digital Collections, an online resource exploring high-quality images of cultural collections and research projects. Instruments of Change can also be viewed in person, in the Stopford Building, home to the Manchester Medical School at The University of Manchester.
