For the first time in 175 years, April 2024 saw the Guru transported to the Sri Guru Gobind Singh Gurdwara in Whalley Range, Manchester to be revered during the annual Vaisakhi festival. Most recently in July 2024, the Guru again left the Rylands to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Gurdwara in Moss Side Manchester.
This video shows the ceremony carried out by members of the Guru Nanak Dev Ji Gurdwara, Hardev Heera Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Subheg Singh, Gurshaan Singh and project leader Gurtek Singh, as the Sri Guru Granth Sahib leaves the Rylands on the way to the Gurdwara.
In August 2022, all five Gurdwaras from Great Manchester sent a delegation to pay their respects to the Guru. The day included the awakening of the Guru Granth Sahib (Prakash), the order of the day (Hukumnama), reciting passages (Kirtan), Formal Prayer (Ardaas), and retiring the Guru Granth Sahib (Sukhasan).
