SBRNS (Soberanos)
SoBeRaNoS are a musical group from the Andes, Ecuador, Imbabura, Otavalo, Peguche. They make protest music with social, political, cultural, racial, and other themes, using hip hop, reggae and rock genres and incorporating indigenous sounds and rhythms from the Ecuadorian highlands to create a fusion with Andean music.
The SBRNS movement was created in 2003 out of a need for young people in the communities to be able to freely express their thoughts through art. The main objective is to give voice to what many are afraid to say.
As members of the movement, they are scattered around the world. The most notable are: Armando Ruiz (El Primo), director of the musical group and lead vocalist, producer of several songs; Alex Ruiz (Ajeno MC), second vocalist and writer of most of the songs, cultural manager and promoter; Luis Laine (Sacra) is the group's backing vocalist and designer of the clothes worn by SBRNS; Tupac Fichamba (Real Fichamba) provides vocal support and is the movement's manager; Alvaro Córdova (Tnaz), visual artist and muralist for the group; Alvaro Terán (artsano), graphic designer for the group and urban entrepreneur; Tinku Perugachi (tinkupro), music producer and beatmaker; Alexis Muenala (alexis), visual producer and creator of the group's video clips.
