Lord Leighton's last drawing, executed on Wednesday, January 22,1896, three days before his death. It is a study for one of four single figures in panels to form the decoration of a hall for Mrs. Rylands.
The subject was to be the four seasons, the one shown being Summer. The sketch of two figures embracing is an occasional fancy not connected with this decoration. Drawn in black and white chalk on brown paper.
About the size of the original, which is the property of Val Prinsep, Esq., R.A.
