Travelling in search of health

Like many Victorians, Enriqueta believed in the health benefits of travel. She often went to the mountains or the seaside for fresh air and exercise. Enriqueta travelled on the Continent because she thought the climate helped her arthritis. She also took her friends on holiday if she was worried about their health.

In 1904 Enriqueta was diagnosed with cancer. The following year she bought a house in Torquay, on the English Riviera. She stayed in Torquay when she was ill, and died there on 4 February 1908.
